DAILY LANGUAGE INSTRUCTION (DLI)
Students will practice Daily Language Instruction, in which they will gain practice in writing conventions (grammar, capitalization, punctuation, and spelling.) New skills are introduced each week, and students also have the chance to practice skills that have been previously taught. Assessments will fall at the end of the week, usually on Friday.

SPELLING TESTS

Spelling tests will be administered every Friday. Students will be given their individual spelling lists on Mondays. They will be expected to study their spelling words/sentences EVERY night of the week so they are prepared for their test. Students will be graded on spelling, punctuation, and capitalization within their sentences.

TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD with spelling & vocabulary:
1) Administer a practice test to your child every night. PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT!
2) After looking over a practice test and finding errors in spelling, have the child re-write the word correctly THREE times.
3) To improve vocabulary, look up the definition of each word. Then, use the word in a sentence.

Here are some additional options & ways to study your weekly spelling sentences & words:
